Ramon Ramirez hit Shane Victorino in the back/kidneys, Ramirez and Victorino charged (Victorino backed off a bit) and Whiteside was jumping up and down, as if he was ready to fight. Then he tackled Polanco full-gear and a brawl ensued. The a-hole thing about it was is that Victorino seemed to cool down yet Whiteside attacked. Victorino, Ramirez, and Whiteside were ejected.

The Giants needed that, that's all I'm going to say. In fact, both teams did. This is going to be an interesting next two games, and a rest of the night in fact. One thing for sure, the league is going to look at this, and Victorino is going to get suspended. Perhaps Ramierz or Whiteside might get a slap on the wrist as well, if not face suspension themselves.

He low-blowed him, and in fact he ended getting on the bottom of the dog pile as a result. I'm sure he was just protecting his pitcher (saying "fight me, not him"), but there was nothing but intent on that pitch to hit Victorino.

Could it have been something to do with the Sanchez/Utley altercation in the NLCS? I just didn't like how Whiteside was ready to fight even though there might not have been one because Victorino started to charge but backed off. I think all of them will get suspended even though the pitch might not have been intentional from Ramirez.

It was absolutely intentional. Not sure where "nothing but intentional" comes off as "unintentional."

I'm sorry, I think I cut my post a bit early. Read it now and see if that sounds right.

The reason Victorino would face suspension above Ramirez or Victorino is the way he forcefully unrestrained himself from the home plate umpire and took out the Giants' hitting coach with an NFL-like tackle.

This stems back from last year's NLCS. Here, the Phillies had a comfortable lead and a loose-tempered guy at the plate. It was just bad blood being bad blood. We don't have any sort of "intense rivalry" going on, but as far as cross-country heat goes, they are right in the thick of things.

I don't get it either. I was ready to post this in the weekly games thread, only to see a whole thread dedicated to it. Might as well contribute if I can.
