Surely you can understand the distinction between hoping that a *team* "beats their brains in and just sends them all the way back to whoever is in fourth place now" and wishing personal harm on someone.

Or did you think that Prior wanted the Astros to take on the Cards in a gangfight like in "Warriors"

I can definitely see the distinction and I feel that Kline is a moron for saying anything like that. The reason I said I never thought Kline would say something like that is because he has always seemed like a very nice guy. He is one of the more approachable guys off the field and does a lot of stuff for the community. But he has been rather, well, dumb at times. It was a comment made without thinking. Cards-Cubs has usually been a friendly rivalry, but this year with both teams in it, and a lot of Cardinals (Kline especially) feeling sorry for themselves, some things that should not have been said were said. It is totally stupid though to call the Cardinals whiners just because of the statement of their dumb set-up guy. Prior also said he hoped the Astros would beat us. Do you think any Cub wanted the Cards to win rather than the Astros given the choice? The bottom line is Kline is a moron, I hope he is not re-signed, and he went too far.

Prior said he personally hated the Cardinals with a passion. What does it make a difference if Kline said this? Most of you all calling the Cardinals cry babies are from Ill. That's a conspiracy!

Re: A nice statement by Kline from the Cardinals...

More than likely, Kline will be re-signed by the Cardinals. If for no other reason than because he was one of the very few effective pitchers out of the 'pen last year. Fassero will be gone and, with Kline being lefty, has a place to fill on the team.

And for those that think what he said about Prior was sooo bad, well you've never heard what he has to say about himself. His statements about himself make the ones about Prior seem docile, that is if you are naive enough to think that he meant what he said 100%.

Bottom line, it's a rivalry and it's good for the rivalry. What do you want, a rivalry where all the players are buddy-buddy (ala Brett Favre and Warren Sapp or Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa)? I think it's refreshing to have personalities on these teams that are willing to ruffle feathers once in a while.

We have Kline and Morris, the Cubs have Baker and Prior.

                  Sounds like fun to me.

Ever heard of Herb Score? That's why Kline's comments are way out of line and cannot be defended. I could give a rat's *ss if he is just being a "kooky Cardinal".

I know you got it in for Dusty but I have never heard him wish career-ending injury on another player.

Just heard Bo Hart on the Dan Patrick show, he did not seem to believe what Kline said. He did not attempt to defend Kline. He seemed baffled that any player could say such a thing.
