Also I think we should get rid of Castilla, put Jones back at 3B, and sign another outfielder.

<hr /></blockquote><font class="post"> How about moving Chipper back to 3B and putting DeRosa in LF? DeRosa is a solid hitter and doesn't have bad defense either.

It's a smart move, IMO. After seeing what DeRosa could do in the playoffs, I really have a better respect for him. I can honestly say that if the Braves are deep at one position, it's definitely 2B (Giles &amp; DeRosa)

Don't forget... even though Betemit has had 2 poor years in the minors, he's only 21. If he can pull it together, they could move him up at 3B (he was originally a SS, but Furcal's arm is too good to move him to his native 2B). Also, there's a guy that recently got called up named Mike Hessman... great power, and once he gets control of the strike zone, he'll be awesome. Jeff Francoceur has been ripping it up in rookie ball... probably only 2 years 'til he gets to the majors.

All is not lost for the Braves, but I doubt you'll see them make it 13 straight. They need a few losing years to remember what it feels like. 12 years... 12 years and one title... I can't help but think that some of the blame falls with Cox. They love him in Atlanta, he knows how to win in the regular season... but he drops the ball every October. A 3 man rotation when you have Ramirez on the bench? I dunno. It would be nice to see the team play with some emotion, like they did in the early 90's. They definitely need a some fire lit under them.

What a surprise, the Braves offense has shut down in the playoffs. They make every starter look like a God. How many games did Kerry Wood lose this year? Didn't he lose 10 or something like that? Someone obviously got hits off him. Playoffs roll around though, and the Braves bats always go into the toilet. To top it off, I was driving back from out of town and was watching the last couple innings at a Pizza Hut, and I had to sit and listen to some Cubs fan for half an hour going on and on about the Cubs. The pizza almost came back up.

The Braves need to go in some other direction. They have way too little emotion and heart. As much as I like Maddux, he should go. Most of the relievers need to go. Useless Byrd should go, Castilla should go. Andruw should go (ok, maybe my anger is getting the best of me here).

This year feels like such a waste. Not much different than other years I guess. I'll be a Braves fan until the day I die, but this is frustrating. I think it felt better when they were cellar dwellers back in the 70s and 80s.

Oh, and I have another question. Why were the Braves playing the Cubs in the series anyway? Having the best record, shouldn't they have been playing the Wild card team? Is it because Florida is in their division that they couldn't play them first?

I wasn't on last night....DARN however CUBS WIN CUBS WIN!

Ok that out of the way some posters have stolen my thunder. I think that the Braves should let Maddux go and any of their big name FAs as well. I also think it's time for a change in philosophy. Bobby Cox's time in ATL is over. It's time to probably bring a younger guy who is more in tune with the players today tho I think they should keep Mazone as Pitching Coach.
