    Re: Vladimir sweepstakes

Don't be surprised to see the Orioles make a run at Vlad. They needa power hitter in the worst way, and Baltimore is still sort of a small market team that Vlad would like. Plus the O's get a lot of money freed up with Albert Belle coming off the books this year.

I agree with you about Kent, but you are mistaken if you think that Kent is the only player who dislikes Bonds.

Bonds problems with teammates are legendary and go back to his college days at ASU. Check this ESPN link:

                  ESPN Barry Bonds Bio

here are some excerpts from what is a favorable bio:

                  "
Jim Brock, his coach at Arizona State, said most of Bonds' college teammates had no time for him. "I don't think he ever figured out what to do to get people to like him," Brock said
                  "

                  "
The outfielder, though, was rarely a hit with teammates, who were put off by his aloofness and superstar ego. When Bonds returned to Pittsburgh for the first time in 1993 and entered the Pirates' clubhouse, players barely looked up from their card games to acknowledge him. When he hit his 500th homer in April 2001, his Giants teammates didn't bother to leave the dugout and greet him at home plate.

It's much different to be a Met, and to be a Yankee. No one team in MLB faces the type of pressure Yankee players face.

Kent is beloved in Houston, and acts like a down to earth guy. Nobody seems to have the problems with him but Bonds.

Vlad wont go to the Yankees.....as mentioned before, he doesnt like the publicity, at least from what I've seen. Plus would they even have the money for him? He'll command TOO MUCH even for Steinbrenner. I see the Giants as a realistic possibility, or he might go to an AL team, which I dont know.

He'll most likely end up staying an Expo.
