I don't think there's that many better managers then Bobby Cox around. Like who? Jerry Manuelle or a Bob Boone? I wouldn't mind see Bobby Valentine given another shot at managing though.

I know why Bonds was such a disappointment, and why he may be for years to come.

The jewelry with sentimental value... his earing.

He left it with his father. This was always a superstition in my case... every time he DOESN'T wear it, he's not performing as well.

Hopefully my superstition and belief is wrong, but that's what I think.

Well besides the obvious reason, playing poorly.

The Giants, particularly their pitching staff, are a team built for the long haul of a 162 game season. They have a ton of depth, so injuries won't cause a long slide. Their pitching is close to the top as whole, but they only have 1 dominant guy.

The Giants have 2 studs- Bonds, Schmidt- and the rest of the team is made up of solid above average fundamental players. They don't really have anybody that sucks (as long as Benard is on the DL).

Most other playoff teams have 4 or 5 studs, a few solid players, a few more average players, and a few guys who straight up suck.

So in the long haul, the Giants will almost always win, but in a short series the team with the studs will win (as long as they can hide the guys who suck).

I fully expect the Giants to be in the playoffs again next year, but I don't think they can win it all 'till they get another dominant pitcher to go along w/ Schmidt.

No, can you say weak divisions?
With a balanced schedule, the NL Central would have looked a lot better, but you had 3(sometimes) good teams pounding each other, and some damage to be done by Milwaukee and Cincy.
Atlanta did have a very tough division, or so it seemed. maybe Philly and Montreal weren't all that great either.
SanFran has it made. . . who can stop them in teh West? no one. Colorado? San Diego? LA? hardly. Arizona, nope, suffer from raiders syndrome.

We need a shake up for sure, new players AND new manager. I'd like to see Lou Pinella in the clubhouse. Him, Torre, and Valentine are the only ones I would really like to see. Everyone else would be "eh" for me.
