Kimbrel just lost confidence in his fastball for some reason and tried to be too fine with it. He was scared to say "let's see you hit it" to Phillies hitters and throw it down the plate.

I'm not too shocked that Kimbrel blew it. No matter how good you are as a rookie closer when the chips are on the table and everything is on the line THAT'S when you see the measure of a man.

It happened to Rick Ankiel when everyone thought he was gonna be a star pitcher for years to come and while this isn't THAT bad it does show that sometimes having a guy with some experience in that situation is the optimum.

I do think Kimbrel will be a great reliever/closer for years though.

Won't happen right away though...game still tied going to the bottom of the 9th.
