All 162 games count. I think in baseball more than any other sport people think that they can take games off when they play. And then something like this happens.

Re: 9/19 - 9/28 Game Discussion Thread
It might be my biggest pet peeve when people say "baseball is too long", "too many games don't matter", and things like that.
People who say things like that honestly have no idea about anything.Comment

Yup...it's like saying the base paths are too long/short. Shorten them by a footband think how many infield singles you see or double plays not turned. Lengthen them by a foot and the opposite occurs. Nope...it's all JUST right."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Re: 9/19 - 9/28 Game Discussion Thread
I'm so pissed off at everyone right now. How do the Yankees blow a ****ing 7 run lead??? Either way, we didn't deserve to make the playoffs, the Rays deserved it more.
I still can't get over the fact that if we win ONE more game, ONE, we're playing against the Rays tonight. Or if we win ONE more game against Tampa, we're in the playoffs. But no, we played september like we had already clinched and thats why we're at home.Follow me on Twitter: @ADice15Comment

Now that am am able to face it without being pissed (well..."as pissed" would be more accurate)...I agree with all the comments about why baseball is great. Crazy finish to the year and, as much as I hate to admit it, it was probably better for baseball this way.
I certainly don't expect anyone to feel sorry for the Red Sox or anything, they had more than their fair share of success recently and have way more than their fair share of resources...but this has been like being a kid again (in a bad way)...watching my Sox lose in embarrassingly strange, bad and historical ways. When we collapse, we collapse BIG. Ugh.
I guess the bright side is that, because it was so bad, a chunk of the band-wagoners will jump off now. Oh and maybe it leads to Lackey getting run out of town (obviously wasn't him tonight and it was WAY more than him overall, of course, but I simply hate his guts)Comment

Re: 9/19 - 9/28 Game Discussion Thread
The sheer amount of unbelievable CIRCUMSTANCE that went into what happened last night is truly enough to warp my mind for years.
Forget everything that went on JUST to get us to last night.
You have Howard's double putting the vulnerable and insecure Braves down 1-0 right at the beginning of the game, to Uggla's HR to make it 3-1, Michael Bourn's steal at third called out, Uggla's failed slide in the sixth, Jack Wilson's "2003 NLCS Alex Gonzalez" moment that led to a run (after Catching Hell airing just Tuesday night), to Craig Kimbrel blowing yet another save after being unhittable for months before, to Chipper's long shot and Michael Martinez's unbelievable game-saving catch, to the finish in THIRTEEN innings.
Then you have the Red Sox game. All the stuff that went on there. A freakin' balk to tie the game, Pedroia's homer, to the gun-out at home, to the Orioles being down to only one strike, then hitting a double, then a single to left to Carl Crawford who muffs the catch that would have ended the game and instead allowed the winning run to come across. Oh by the way, Crawford, who bolted from Tampa just last year to go to Boston, making that play that allows the Rays to have that opening. Not to mention mother nature conspiring with the baseball gods to pop up with a rain delay that delays the game just enough to time it perfectly with the Rays game.
Then of course Yankees/Rays, Yankees getting out to a 7 run lead by rocking David freakin' Price in a game they'd probably rather lose, to a six-run eighth capped off by Evan Longoria's three run homer, to Dan freakin' Johnson who was batting .105 in 82 freakin' at-bats hitting a solo shot to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th, like 6 feet from being foul, to more extras, then obviously to cap it all off just THREE minutes after the Sox game ends, Evan Longoria with a homer around what is basically Tampa's Pesky Pole to end the game.
I mean, I hate to be redundant and recap it all We watched it, we know what happened. Sure I missed a few events too, as I'm still reeling.
But REALLY? Really baseball? Just utterly mind-blowing. Utterly. Freaking. Mindblowing.
Some of you guys have it right when he says an ESPN doc needs to be made of what happened. .Last edited by TheMatrix31; 09-29-2011, 07:00 AM.Comment

They actually said on the Mike & Mike show this morning that wasn't the case - no bonus clause for anything like that.
Still bush league regardless.Comment

Oh God, I'm glad I'm not the only one that was having those flashbacks when I saw that play. I didn't even watch the documentary, but I still won't ever forget that sequence of events. The sheer amount of unbelievable CIRCUMSTANCE that went into what happened last night is truly enough to warp my mind for years.

Re: 9/19 - 9/28 Game Discussion Thread
It was the first thing I thought of. Not to mention that the only reason that Jack Wilson was on the field was because OUR Alex Gonzalez was injured. Gonzalez, who OH BTW, was on the Marlins team against the Cubs in 2003.
Just....weird.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 09-29-2011, 07:55 AM.Comment

Agree, the other bush league act was Reyes telling the media he was having a party at his house and cheer against Braun. What?
Braun has been nothing but classy and professional about the whole thing. Braun doesn't win the batting title, at least he wins the class title.Comment

Re: 9/19 - 9/28 Game Discussion Thread
I hope no one's surprised by Reyes' actions. He's one of the biggest pieces of crap in the game. Ugh.
Meanwhile, Ryan Braun is one of the most likable players I've ever watched.Comment

While screaming racial slurs.
Best moment of the night for me was the nut shot that fan took on Dan Johnson's home run.
