Of course, Baker is a rather good manager.
Of course, sports journalists aren't consistent, so I must make this rant.
DUSTY BAKER, just like in the ALL-STAR game, just like in GAME 6, was OUT-MANAGED!!!
What does NCKEON do when it is obvious that Redman is not going to get it done? Yanks him.
What does BAKER do when he watches KERRY WOOD bounce 8 out of 10 Sliders? Sits on his hands.
This is a GAME SEVEN!!! No tomorrow DUSTY!!!
ANY of us who have watched WOOD more than half a dozed times know that there are TWO, count 'em, TWO KERRY WOODS. There is the WOOD that struck out 20 ASTROS, and there is the WOOD that showed up last night. HE is a great pitcher, but he will turn in a performance like last night's rather consistently. BAKER should know this, surely he does.
Since the CUBS won the Central, every reporter has lined up to give the LEWINSKY to BAKER.
I am sorry, and perhaps I am insane, but I think it has to be pointed out to the fans.
Sure, WOOD and PRIOR didn't Execute, but the OFFENSE gave them the runs.
BUT, with the stuff PRIOR had late in the game and what WOOD HAD LAST NIGHT, they never should have had to execute. I am sure they would rather have been pulled and won than lost as they did.
Thanks CUBBIES, thanks DUSTY. Wonderful year until about 10pm CST last night.
IF DB is a great manager, he will learn. IF not . . .
Thanks for your time.
Disagree? go ahead.
THIS JUST IN: Local (MEMPHIS) Radio Station: "We should blame DB for not pulling his starters, but we can't talk about that, can we?"
