A different perspective on the Cubbies collapse

I heard a guy call in to a local sports show on the radio that had an interesting perspective on the foul fly to "the fan".

It was obvious that the Cubs, especially Prior, lost their composure after Alou missed the foul fly.

But who was to blame for that? "The fan" or Alou? Let's face it, fans interfere with fielders all the time. Happened to Bako earlier in the playoffs.

But what if Alou had not gone off on "the fan" and thrown his glove down in disgust? Did Alou's reaction contribute to the desperation? As a veteran leader would Alou have helped the Cubs more by keeping his cool and simply jogging back to LF? Interesting to think about.

The other thing is that it seems to me that the Cub's piss-poor defense finally came back to haunt them. Dropped third strikes, lots of bobbles in the infield, Lofton & Sosa always throwing off-line... Gonzalez booted that grounder and this time it hurt them big-time.
