Re: Do you feel for Steve Bartman ?
The guy did what was natural, and he's not even guilty of fan interference... if he actually reached out of the stands and interfered, that's an easily-remedied call the umpire can make, and this guy would still be your average anonymous fan.
By the way, I love how some in the now locked-up thread were saying this would never happen in NY. That was some nice, actual fan interference on Matsui's "ground-rule double" last night, but since the Yankees actually executed well on the field after the play, that fan doesn't need around-the-clock police surveillance to protect him.Comment

Yeah it's a load of crap. Cubs fans need to get a life. There were like 6 people going after the ball, and he comes up with it, and he gets the blame??? I'm sorry, but life is bigger than baseball. I wish I was in his place. I would of told Chicago when I die, to put me in my casket backwards, so Chicago cankiss my a**!!!

Re: Do you feel for Steve Bartman ?
agreed - i mean it's just a foul ball - he wasn't leaning over (a la jeffery maier -'96 Yanks/Orioles) & he really didn't affect the play - pretty sad that Gonzales cannot come up w/ an easily hit ground ball & that a catcher cannot catch a pitch. hey Chicago, how 'bout blammin your TEAM for stinkin up the place, not a fan??Comment

Re: Do you feel for Steve Bartman ?
Forget about going Al Capone on Bartman. How about Alex Gonzalez? Are you kidding me? You have to make that play. And not for nothin', but no one, and I mean no one, can guarantee that Alou would have caught that ball. How many times do we see outfielders drop balls that they leap for. Maybe Alou would have hit the wall just hard enough to jar the ball loose. Leave the guy alone. He messed up, but the Cubs and Dusty messed up ten-fold. So stop yourComment
