    How ironic is that?

    Chicago and Boston both had 3-run leads with five outs to go...and lost.

    I don't believe in curses, but that is pretty freaky. I do think the weight that every Cub and Red Sox player carries from the constanst bombardment of questions surrounding their respective droughts gets to them.

    Maybe next year.

    In both cases the next guy up (Pierre/Jeter) doubled.

    Both teams had a flame-thrower with a straight fastball (Farnsworth/Embree) ready to go but the manager stayed with the stud starter.

    It is like one of those JFK &amp; Lincoln things
