I can't find anything recent that shows $3 billion. Even the rangers fan forums I came across were quoting 1.6. You're right though we may never know. Even the angels deal is quoted as " at least" 3B.

Does make sense though. Baseball almanac lists the Angels tv market as 3 times the size of the Texas market.

The Tigers also just came into a new TV Deal and they now have three, 65" Plasma's in the clubhouse from Toshiba and are doing away with the Vizio models. I don't know how this helps them sign Prince Fielder, though.

Reds got a whole lot better.

Source: #Reds acquire Latos from #Padres. Yonder Alonso among those headed to Pads. #MLB according to Ken Rosenthal

            Yup.

I wonder if there's a third team that needs a 1B because the Pads already have Rizzo at 1B and Blanks in LF.

            EDIT: Volquez also involved:

            Plus Grandal and Boxberger:

                Nice haul for SD.

Volquez fits in the back-of-the-rotation now, Grandal is the long-term C, Boxberger could be a CL right now + Alonso could be trade bait. The loss of Latos for the Padres is eased because Kelly is coming up in the next year or two.

Great deal for SD, both teams actually. I would of taken that package for Pineda.

Love the trade for SD. I don't get the talk that Reds overpayed. They get a #1 Starter which they really needed and control him for 4 Years? Seems even.

This comes from a Cubs fan also.

Now possibly a Alonso trade to TB?

I thought that as well. But I'm reading it's most likely rizzo.

Talk to me people, do you guys think that Latos can really be a true number one for the Reds? IMO, we haven't had a true number in 20 years, going back to Jose Rijo. Every guy we bring in either gets hurt or just becomes mediocre.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.
