I think the length of the season should be cut to 154, and the first round of the playoffs lengthened to a 7 game series. As we all witnessed over the last month, playoff baseball kicks friggin ***.
It makes you wonder how many 'wild-card' teams that could've been in times passed. It basically says that you can show up for the last 4 months of the season and win it all, even if you sucked hard for the first two months.

What they should do is...
Have two wild-cards from each league. And the day after the season ends, have the two wild card teams play a 1 game playoff at the home of the better record team.
Example: After the final game, the Red Sox would play the Mariners, in Boston. Boston would start Pedro and the Mariners would start Moyer.
Reason: This puts a serious disadvantage on the wild card teams for when they make it to round one because their #1 pitcher, will have been used up in this one game playoff. That way, being a Wild Card team will be a disadvantage. I mean, you play 162 and outwin your division by 10 games or whatever, only to be beat by a team who lost 20 more games than you in the first round.
Just a thought.
