Yeah, I was watching the end of the game earlier and saw that. Pretty surprised that Ricky Horton and Dan McLaughlin didn't know who that was. It was Oscar Taveras one of the Cardinals top prospects. It was pretty funny to hear them talk about it though.

^^ The fact that it's one of their top prospects makes it even more funny.

Braves 3B Chipper Jones will have arthroscopic knee surgery, tore meniscus on Thursday.

Braves 3B. Chipper tore meniscus during team stretch about an hour before retirement press conference.

Braves GM Frank Wren on Chipper hurting knee just an hour or less before retirement press conference: "It's almost unimaginable, really."
He'll be out a few weeks. Almost wish they'd just keep him out til August and use him as a "hired gun" for the stretch run.

Unfortunate for Ryan Madson. I would have liked to see what he was going to do this year.

Me too...I've always liked Madson. Ruben Amaro looks nothing short of a genius now.

Reading the box score of the Braves/Jays beat down from last night.

I can't help but think of Harry Doyle after seeing the hits column.

Joba is still recovering from his elbow injury. Joba doesn't have to consider me at all. If being a father means that you must put yourself in a non-needed situation of re-injury, then sure, he did the absolute right thing. Joba's career is ultimately not just for himself, but also for the support of his child.

Man is just being a father, sure trampolines aren't exactly the most safest forms of playing with your child but what happened was the definition of a freak accident. Like someone said, he has more of a chance of being severely hurt driving then anything. I'd consider a dick move if he told his son he couldn't do it because of his job.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this, but pretty good analysis here:

Lindsay Berra of ESPN The Magazine asked pitching coach Paul Reddick to compare the flawed delivery of Stephen Strasburg with the model motion of retired legend Greg Maddux.

I know Alex Anthopoulos was saying all the right things in his interview on the FAN yesterday but I really think Jays fans may have seen Travis Snider for basically the last time. If Thames can continue to play well with the chance he's been given then I see Snider possibly staying in triple A all season (til September maybe) and possibly being traded sometime next year.

A bit of bad news in Jays camp yesterday as Dustin McGowan pulled himself from a minor league start because of Plantar Fascitis (sp) and is listed as day to day. This guy can't catch a break! Hopefully it's only a minor flare up and it won't affect him too much.

But he did sign a 2 year extension today.

Im going to be fairly annoyed with Tracy if Fowler starts in CF with his sub .200 OBP and barn burning .114 avg. EY Jr has shown up this camp and his results are far more appealing at this point.

But in the end, I know Fowler will get yet another chance just like all the other homegrown players that got a million opportunities only to weigh the offense down.

Mets' R.A. Dickey says he was abused as a child in new book.

In his upcoming book, Mets pitcher R.A. Dickey reviels he was sexually abused as a child, contemplated suicide and also wrote about an experience with the Rangers where he saw a used syringe in the clubhouse bathroom. Sports Illustrated has an excerpt of Dickey's new book, "Wherever I Wind Up: My Quest for Truth, Authenticity and the Perfect Knuckleball", written with New York Daily Newswriter Wayne Coffey.

Dickey, 37, said he was abused by a babysitter when he was 8 and didn't tell anyone about it until he was 31. He also wrote that he considered suicide following the 2005 season in the wake of an affair.

"I hope that on some level that people will respect my honest, and I would like to believe they will," Dickey told the New York Daily News' Andy Martino.

As for the syringe incident, Dickey said it took place when he was 26 and in his first year in the big leagues, with the Rangers in 2001. Ken Caminiti, Rafael Palmeiro and Alex Rodriguez, among other suspected and admitted steroid users, were on that team.

The book will be released on Thursday. I've read a lot of baseball biographies/memoirs, but there are few I'm looking forward to more than this one, in part because I'm fascinated by the knuckleball and those who throw it, as well as Dickey's honesty.
