That really sucks for him. I couldn't imagine having all this talent and not being able to use it.

Re: 2012 Spring Training Discussion Thread
Cardinals closing in on extension with Yadier Molina.
Rumored to be 5 years between 70-75 mil.
Keeping Yadi is crucial due to how he manages a game behind the dish and can shut down the running game but 5 years at roughly 14-15 mil per is pretty rich considering how heavy his workload has been since hes been in the majors not to mention his body type probably isn't best suited for all that squatting down on your knees.
Glad to keep him in the fold (if things continue on and it sounds like its all but done) but I think the length and money are a bit on the high side.Favorite Teams:

Re: 2012 Spring Training Discussion Thread
Molina just might be the best "all-around" catcher in the game though.
An absolute beast defensively with a cannon for an arm who is also a .300 hitter with double digit home run power. He's also very durable and calls a great game. But man alive, that is a lot if dough for a 2.
In other news, Zumaya is contemplating retirement. Can't say I blame him.Comment

Can't see giving a catcher that much money and for that long, especially seeing he's already 30, no matter how valuable he is. Even worse is that he's in the NL. You never know when those knee problems are going to surface.Comment

Personally I think Molina is more a 4 year/45 mil type of player.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

Re: 2012 Spring Training Discussion Thread
Yeah that is more in line with what I was thinking or 4 years 50 mil even but the 70-75 number seems really high but he is great at what he does, just hope his body doesn't start breaking down from his heavy workload.
Interesting article about the contract ( http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index...-premium-rate/ ), compares to the other 12 catchers who have had as heavy of a workload as Yadi has to this point in his career and how they finished their careers, also talks about how its hard to determine market value for a top shelf defensive catcher due to WAR doesn't factor in his defensive abilities but he certainly helps a ton there.Favorite Teams:

Sandy Alomar Jr, Carlos Baerga, Albert Belle, Mike Hargrove and K-Love all at the Cleveland Indians' camp.
There isn't a lot of things the Indians do right, but bringing back their old players is one thing they are awesome at. They bring these guys in and have them talk and teach young players during spring training as a special instructor. I cannot believe they got Albert Freaking Belle out there to do that. Maybe one day, we could get him back to Cleveland and retire his jersey.Too Old To Game Club

Re: 2012 Spring Training Discussion Thread
Wow Albert Belle has really ballooned!
The Blue Jays also do a fair job of bringing in past players to spring training as well. It's probably how Pat Hentgen got the bullpen coach job a couple years ago though he quit due to family reasons but it was nice to have him around the team full time on the field for a year. He's currently a special assistant to the GM.
Anyways some news from Jays camp:
- Jesse Litsch has arm trouble AGAIN as he has inflammation in his right shoulder and will be sidelined for a week.
- The Jays may have interest in Maglio Ordonez or Vlad Guerrero IF they're willing to sign a minor league deal with an invite to ST.
- (Non spring training stuff) The Jays TV broadcast team of Buck Martinez and Pat Tabler ranked 25 (SIGH) in the Fangraphs crowdsourcing ranking of MLB broadcast teams with the consensus view that Toronto fans prefer the radio team of Howarth and Ashby over their TV counterparts but note that Martinez is a pretty good color guy doing PBP work.
Oh well, least they beat out the Phils, Rockies, Braves, Cardinals, Dodgers (when Scully is not working) and of course the White Sox.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but can somebody explain to me why the Chicago Cubs have one of the highest odds to win the World Series this year? As far as I see, they should be a bottom 5 team in MLB this year.NFL: Bills
NBA: Bucks
MLB: Cubs
