    Reds: Yonder Alonso

Were the Reds smart to trade him?

    Thoughts.

As a Reds fan myself, I was a little surprised by the move - especially considering who else we bundled with Alonso to get Latos.

We'll see. I think we're a better team than we were last year, but for how long? I think we're all in this year - but I'm afraid we're going to be rebuilding soon.

It's kind of weird how much hype he was getting and there was a lot of talk about what position they would put him at because of Votto, then a couple months later they trade him. I don't know why they traded him.

Neftali Soto is the reason they traded him and will be a better player than Alonso. Remember where you heard it first

Soto is not the reason they traded Alonso. Haha Latos is!

I liked Alonso a lot and think he will be a very good hitter but I loved the move. Seems like every year we have top prospects that the Reds fan base love and dont want to trade. What do the Reds have to show (outside of Votto) for holding onto their future young stars?

I didn't really like us giving away Yonder at first but, I loved getting Latos in the deal. I think he is the guy who can be our #1 starter (Ace) in your rotation for years to come. Young guy (I think 23) who will be a stud in years to come with the franchise.
