Beltran is one of if not the most underrated player in baseball. He's a 5 tool player, for sure. But, I dont know if trading Soriano would be wise. Its his what, 3rd year? He'll get better with his patience, believe that. Soriano is a stud also. He can go 50/50 if he wants to.

I dont know, I would hate to be Brian Cashman...what a decision if that situation is true.

Obviously you've never seen Soriano play. He hits good pitching just as well as bad pitching when he's on his game. He does go into long slumps though, but when he come out watch it, cause he'll crush everything you throw him.

            Soriano couldn't carry Beltran's jock.

If Beltran was a Yankee, he'd be as big of a name as Jeter.

Come on AI. Now I'll admit that I exaggerate my criticisms of Soriano, but a trade straight up for Beltran is not nearly as horrible as you make it out to be. Any reasonable person has to admit the trade has potential to be good for both teams.

And if Beltran goes to the Yanks and proves to have a spark for the post-season (which I doubt since he wasn't reared a Yank) then he could be as big as Jeter.

I could stress out all the reason why we shouldn't deal him away, but I'll just make it fast and simple.
Why trade for Beltran, and better yet give up Sori for him? Beltran is a FA next year, so see how he does this year, and make a push for him in the FA next winter. Not many can afford the type of contract he is asking for. By waiting, you will find out if whether his last season(2003) was a breakout year, or has he really gotten better. We can survive this season without him in CF. That's it, it's all plain and simple.
Better question, since you(dce) think that Beltran has matured this season, which supposedly showed in his BB/K ratio, has Jose Guillen also matured? Both of them had breakout years.
