    One pitcher/One hitter

Right now, if you had to pick one hitter and one pitcher to build a franchise around, who would it be and why?

Clayton Kershaw for sure as my pitcher.

Hitter I would probably go with Joey Votto, but that's a tough decision. If we're factoring in more than just hitting, I might go with Andrew McCutcheon.

Pitcher: Cole Hamels (He's been to the big dance and won a World Series MVP. Plus, he's still only 28.)

Hitter: Hunter Pence (Guy is just an all around good old school baseball player that plays hard every single day.)

          Clayton Kershaw and Evan Longoria.

Kershaw is only 24 years old and is the best starting pitcher in the game. It is also a plus that he is a lefty.

Longoria is only 26 years old and is a excellent hitter and also a terrific fielder at a prime position.

I almost chose Tulowitzki as my hitter, but he is a year older than Longo and has had injuries.

For me, I will leave kershaw and Kemp out of it, as I am an obvious dodger Guy and want to pick from other teams lol.

Pitcher: strasburg, I know he is coming off injury and might be the next Prior, but his talent is undeniable. With 100 MPH heat, nasty curve, and great control. Hard to pass up.

Hitter: Troy Tulowitzki. What more can you say about the best SS in baseball?

I would go Kershaw with Tulowitzki, regardless if Tulowitzki was on the Rockies or not. I was tempted to go with Posey since its nice to have a catcher that can manage some offense.

Out of ALLLLLLLLL the guys in the league? C'mon.

As for mine, man, that's tough. Probably Felix and Cabrera. But if you're factoring in off-the-field propensities, Cabrera might not be my choice.

Could go so many ways. Felix, Kershaw, Hanson, the Rays guys, Cain, Strasburg, Kemp, Pujols, Cabrera, Braun, Longoria, Fielder, Lawrie, Hosmer, Votto.....so many options.

Probably not the best thing to think about at 4:30am, lol.

Kemp and Kershaw. Dodgers fans are lucky that they get to watch two exceptionally skilled guys play together in their prime years.

I'd take Matt Moore as my pitcher, he's a young lefty with nasty stuff and his demeanor is even better.

As for my hitter I'd take Troy Tulowotzki, that offensive production out of the SS position is unheard of. His glove isn't too shabby either.

David Price as my Pitcher. Guy is young lefty who has playoff experience and has to go against the AL East teams all year.

Andrew McCutchen, and I don't care if thats homer pick. The guy is a beast, is young and hasn't even hit his prime yet.

Hitter I'd take Ian Kinsler. Dude is consistent.

Pitcher I'm not really sure. Probably Felix or Kershaw.

                          Pitcher: Kershaw

Hitter: Mike Stanton. Homer pick, but he's only 22 and has insane power. Doesn't use his power just for HRs either, a simple single from him has a chance to hurt someone or so it seems lol.

I'd agree with most here and take Kershaw as my pitcher. Although I was really close to saying Verlander, only thing that kept me from doing that was that JV is 4-5 years older than Kershaw.

As to my hitter, I'm torn between a guy like McCutchen and two of the best hot corner players in the league in Longoria and Lawrie. I think I'd end up taking McCutchen, as he plays a hell of a CF and is as close to a 5 tool player as there is in baseball right now.

If I'm talking like franchise players to win around for the next 5-7 years:

Pitcher - Felix Hernandez. He's as good as anybody when it all comes down to it. He's a big time pitcher who never gets to pitch on a big time stage.

Hitter - Cabrera. Best hitter in the game! He's 28 now but still improving every year.

If we are going like young, more unproven, build around for 10-15 years:

Matt Moore - I don't know what to say. He's the top prospect for a reason, great stuff, great composure.

Hitter - Mike Stanton. To be so young but to already be such a proven power hitter is scary! Future superstar. He's 22 I think? Man.
