Dodgers dug into the Cubs' "Creative ways to lose a ballgame" playbook today. Hit an opposing pitcher by a pitch who is pinch-hitting because the bench is empty (immediately following an intentional walk, no less). And then walk in the winning run.

Harper is great talent and has the potential to be an incredible player. I don't particularly hate him or anything but I do think we need to be wary of putting him up on a pedestal, giving him the Favre/LeBron/everymomenteveryminute treatment, because that's a real easy way to turn everyone off.
He's 19 so let him accomplish things at the next level before the thorough slobberation commences.
It's stupid to proclaim "jealousy" or "envy" or what-have-you. A lot of teams have absolute young studs nowadays. They (the Nats and media and such) can have their Harper. I'll roll with my boys through and through.Comment

Yeah, the Red Sox have hit rock bottom for the 2nd time in this early season.
They lost a 17 inning affair, and got swept at home by the Orioles.ACCSportsNation.com - A Tradition Of Excellence...Then, Now, And Always!Comment

I've been pretty vocal here about my dislike of Harper. While in the minors, he had done and said things publicly that really put him in "dochebag" territory and his current haircut reflects that. That said, I'm changing my tune at least a little. His reaction to the whole beaning incident, and not just stealing home, his verbal reaction in post-game interviews, was nothing but professional and articulate. He's showing a lot of maturity and I think he's growing up fast.Boston Red Sox Oakland Raiders Iowa State CyclonesComment

For your first hit in the majors, you might as well make it a three run shot in the 9th against a 4 time All Star in Palpelbon

Lance Lynn with another good start for the Cards, 5 IP, 3 H, 4 BB, 7 K.
Matheny goes to the pen and brings in J.C. Romero, who fails to record an out so in his appearance his line is as follows:
0.0 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 1 BB.
Just like that its a 7-4 game and Arizona still has no one out in their half of the 6th and a runner on 2nd.
*Edit - Salas now in, gives up an infield single and now a bunt single and its 7-5, so Romero gets credited with that 5th run as well.Last edited by IlliniM1ke; 05-07-2012, 10:47 PM.Favorite Teams:

Cards escape the inning with a 7-6 lead, Allen Craig leads off the top of the 7th with a long solo shot to dead center, lead back to two 8-6 Cards.
*Edit - Wow David Freese with a homerun to dead center as well, back to back homeruns for the second time tonight for the Cards and their 5th homer of the game, 9-6.Last edited by IlliniM1ke; 05-07-2012, 11:05 PM.Favorite Teams:
