Why is Mattingly pulling Bills so early? questionable decision IMO...

Another solid start for Drew Smyly. 6 innings, 2 hits, 1 run, 5 Ks, 2 BBs. No decision unfortunately. Season ERA of 1.59, outstanding. I wanted to point this out while he's still on his 1st tour. If he finishes under 4 era for the season I'll be ecstatic.

I streamed him in fantasy today since he was playing against a AAA caliber offense. Didn't pick up a W but his overall line certainly helped me out a bit. I might hang on to him for a while and start him against the weaker teams.

The 9th spot in the batting order so far tonight for the Dodgers is 3-3 with 4 rbis.

I made sure to start him tonight as well

I'm not sure what it means to stream a player in fantasy though.

One day I'll have the balls to join a money league, but for now I just play for fun in Yahoo. I usually stock up on Tigers, but my predraft rankings didn't work this year, I only ended up with Fielder. At least Smyly was available as a FA pickup. I don't know how many wins he'll pick up while on this pitch limit though

Streaming a starting pitcher in fantasy baseball means simply picking up a pitcher out of the free agent pool because he has a great matchup on paper with the sole purpose of only playing him for that one game and then dropping him back into the free agent pool right after.

Regarding Harper, ask me in three or four years.

I don't expect anyone to agree with me. I'm sorry but I'm one of those guys that believe the older eras were nothing compared to today's game. Did Ruth play against Dominicans or African Americans? I'm not saying he isn't one of the best to ever play the game, but I take those things into account. I am sure there were things harder in Ruth's era that are easier now.

Do I think if Babe Ruth lived today, he could be on the same level as Josh Hamilton? No, I don't. I think he would be a good player, but who really knows? It's fun to talk about and I can admit my opinion can be a bit out there and illogical at times.

Eh, edit... That game just had me amazed. The Natural comment made sense, but I'll back off of my opinion a bit. Labeling anyone the 'best player ever' is a bit much, but the guy is an amazing talent. I always wonder what he would have done had he not destroyed his body with his drug abuse and wasted four years of his career.

No one here saw Ruth play or any games from that era. it's an impossible comparison to make. Also there's a difference between saying a player is the most naturally talented player and the best player.

Do I think Hamilton is the best player ever? No. But IMO he's the player with the most god given talent that I've ever seen. It's unfortunate he got off the path for a while, who knows how good of a player he really could have been. Despite those issues and the lost time he's in the argument for the best player in the league now. That's quite remarkable if you really think about it.

As for Harper who knows how he will develop, but his natural ability and skill set are undeniable.

I should have put it that way, but that's essentially what I was saying. You're absolutely right about the Ruth comparisons.

I was talking about Matt Kemp. It is way to early to form any kind of opinion on Harper. He has to actually play a few seasons before we know where he's at. With Kemp he talks about having a 50-50 season, and I wouldn't be all that surprised if he pulls one off in the next few years.

Man do the Phillies suck this year, swept by the Mets and I think that makes the season series 1-5 in favor of NY.

I would like to be pleasantly surprised with their being A LOT of baseball left, but I just don't see this team -as is- making another playoff run.

Even when/if Utley gets back, how much is an aging 2B w/ two bum knees going to help? Ryan Howard won't be back until July/August, will they even be hovering around .500 then?

But one thing that is in the Phillies favor is that the current #1/2 starters on the Nationals (Stras/Zimm) are on innings limits. Will that plan hold up if the Nationals are fighting for first place (or W/C) come Sept?
