A pretty cheap pickup for the Rangers. I think he wanted something around 8-12M early in the offseason.

Why should Feliz move back into the bullpen? With Oswalt here, there's no room for him. After the season, you still have the problem of having a guy that has pitched at all levels as a starting pitcher in the bullpen with Joe Nathan as the closer and either Ogando or Adams (depending on contracts) as the set-up guy. At this point, it should be Feliz in the rotation after injury or Feliz in another team's uniform.

So, a perfect game isn't something special?

You can't call it a shutout when referring to one pitcher since he didn't finish the game.

A shutout is an actual stat and he did not achieve that feat.

I can't count how many times a random guy goes 8.1 or more innings and doesn't allow a run each and every year (probably thousands in the history of the game) but there have only been 21 perfect games EVER.

I get that the particular game happened in the World Series and all, but who cares since they didn't get the job done?

A perfect game is superior to a random 8.1 inning performance where you allow 4 baserunners regardless of when it happens.

Look, if you want to talk about Oswalt that's great. We can do that here. Otherwise, I'm not going to let you drag this into an off topic **** flinging festival.

Feliz was a bullpen pitcher in 2011. No reason why he can't come back to the 'pen. Besides, neither Oswalt or Joe Nathan have very many seasons left, so he can eventually make a comeback as a closer or a starter.

Why are so many in a big hurry to push Feliz back into the bullpen? He's much more valuable as a starter, with the potential to be a legitimate #1.

You'll never, ever, ever, ever, ever get that kind of value out of a reliever. Ever, ever. Ever.

well you can never have too many pitchers

If Oswalt is solid, what to do with Feliz will be a good problem to have

As a Yankees fan, it makes me cringe when see young talent constantly go from the bullpen to the rotation, and back to the bullpen, etc.

                  Makes. Me. Cringe.

They had Jerry DiPoto on MLB radio today and they asked him about the move, which of course he talked up. But he made it sound like it was a foregone conclusion that Feliz goes to the 'pen.

I know he's the GM of a team that is not the Rangers, but the way he talked about it so matter of factly, leads me to believe Feliz is bullpen bound.

With the way Holland has been pitching, he should be the one to go to the bullpen...I'd love to just get rid of Scott Feldman or Tateyama for good.

I expect this type of thinking from bandwagon fans. Holland is lights out when he's on top of his game. Yeah he does have hiccups, but so many people forget how dominating he was during the playoffs last year. Maybe he made up some sort of "veteran presence" to get him though that series.

This rotation is young and is getting better by the series. Darvish is pitching like the pro he is and is going to be, if not already, the Ace of the Staff for the next five years. Holland is shaping up to be a good number two guy. Lewis is on his last legs but is holding the fort down during his outings for the most part (I do not expect him to be back next year). Harrison is a good back of the rotation option, and Feliz if healthy should become a TORP in due time. Oswalt is 32 on the downslope of his career and is not going to be a Ranger for long.

I was hoping that by the end of the season, the Rangers could be in contention for people like Zach Greinke or Cole Hamels. Good thing we're blowing the money on one of Ryan's lackeys though and pushing young kids back...
