    2012 MLB Draft

Draft is tomorrow on Monday, Astros have the #1 pick. Looks like they'll be selecting college RHP Mark Appel out of Stanford. Link

So I'm guessing Twins are going to take Buxton. I was love if Max Fried fell to #10 for the Rockies, but I'm not counting it. Think we take HS bat at #10, not sure which player though.

I expect the Marlins to go HS player as usual. Maybe OF Courtney Hawkins or the local kid Almora if available. I could see them going College Pitcher as well tho for once.

The only guys really relevant in our current farm system are the last 2 1st rounders in Yelich/Fernandez, need more.
Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, Lightning

I hope the Mariners get Buxton or Correa. I have heard that they are real high on Zunino, who I believe will definitely be a starting big league catcher, but I hope they go a different direction.

If not Buxton or Correa, I hope they pick the best pitcher available. You can never have too many high ceiling arms.

LA really needs to go 3rd base with the first pick, but I doubt they will.

I'm hoping Carlos Correa somehow falls to the Padres, but the odds are pretty slim considering how much his stock has risen recently. If he's scooped up by either Seattle, Baltimore, or Chicago, then my preferred list is the following:

              OF Albert Almora
              RHP Lucas Giolito
              LHP Max Fried
              OF David Dahl

I've heard Kyle Zimmer being linked to the Padres as well. It should be interesting tomorrow.

Edit: I keep calling him Mike, but it's actually Kyle.

came in here to post the same exact thing.

I just hope we don't draft a Pitcher..if we do, just shut him down and have him get Tommy John surgery tomorrow and get it out of the way already and have him be ready for the following years.

I'm really hoping they pass on Zunino, I think John Hicks is the guy of the future. Plus, we don't really need an immediate impact at that position, Baby Jesus and captain clutch will be around for a while. With that being said, I would love to have Buxton, we haven't had a decent OF prospect since Adam Jones, although Correa would be sweet too

I'm interested to see where Pat Light from Monmouth goes. He throws 98 and seems to have a good enough slider and makeup. Here's a story on him from ESPN: http://espn.go.com/mlb/draft/2012/st...outh-pat-light

Heyman says it looks like the Twins will take Buxton:

                        Jon Heyman ‏<s>@</s>JonHeymanCBS

Early word: astros take stanford rhp mark appel and twins take Ga. prep CF byron buxton. unconfirmed but that's scuttlebutt
Bah. Was hoping they'd pass on him and he would fall to the Mariners.

Well if Jon Heyman thinks that will happen, then it most definitely wont happen.
