Question for Future Post on our OS Blog

Hey guys. I've joined the OS staff to start a Baseball Blog. I'm calling it "The FullCountPitch on OS". Would love any feedback and suggestions.

So, today I'm throwing a question out there for a future post:

You are starting a franchise today and can choose from the following:

    Mike Trout
    Bryce Harper
    Matt Moore
    Giancarlo Stanton

Who do you choose? Vote, but I'd also love for some comments as to why.

    Tough call.

I really like SP as a rule to start....but both Trout and Harper have such promise to be top tier players for so long.

    Coin toss on those two.

This is on the Show? I'll pick Giancarlo Stanton because I like him the best and I haven't seen Moore, Harper, or Trout play in the Show or in real life enough to judge.

Meant to be a real life question, but I think you answered it honestly. Can't go wrong with any of them IMO.

I voted for Stanton because I haven't seen a lot of Trout, and if Bryce Harper lives up to his potential, which could very well not happen, I'd see him as basically doing what Stanton's going to do every year anyway. Basically picking him because he's already where you would hope that Harper is going to get, and I eliminate Matt Moore because he is a Ray

Trout, 5 tool player. Those are the toughest to find.

Tough call for me, they're all great players with great potential. But, if I'm starting a franchise, I'm building around a position player that's going to be out there every day. I really like Bryce Harper's intensity, and that's what sealed the deal for me. He plays the game all out, and I love that.

Giancarlo Stanton. I love watching this kid kill a baseball.

Angel fan so take it with a grain of salt. , Trout is a true 5 tool player. Thus far he's been better than I ever could have hoped for.

Still early but he's hitting .350+ on the season. He's shown power. He may be the fastest player in baseball, and he plays gold glove caliber defense, fearlessly I might add.

Imo, he simply brings more to the table than the others, and he's just 20 years old. His energy and passion for the game almost instantly energized the Angels, and he's been the biggest key to their turn around.

Can't go wrong with any player on this list, but Trout has the most rounded game in the group and according to some I heard on MLB network this morning, possibly the highest ceiling.

After that I would go Harper, who I like almost as much as Trout. He quite possibly will be the best player in the game in a very short time as well. Still learning how to play the OF, and I believe he will be a plus defender in the future.. He can run pretty well, and we all know he's gonna hit no matter what.

Love Moore, but starting a franchise with a young SP is a risk imo. They always seem to have arm problems early and you really have to limit their innings. I think he's potentially as good as there is, I just don't like the risk factor.

Stanton is a power bat in the truest sense of the word. Capable of prodigious power and I'd love to have him on my team, but imo, he's a one trick pony. If I had my choice, I want the whole package in a position player if it's what I am building my franchise around. Although I believe him to be better in the field than he gets credit for. I think Stanton is a cog, and an important one, but not the centerpiece of a franchise.

I wouldn't say necessarily a one trick pony, he's got a strong arm and has enough speed in the OF to run down some balls(If you ever watch a Marlins broadcast, it's the equivalent to Jimmy Graham Basketball references with him playing football in HS). Also starting to hit for more average this season, I believe he's cut his K% a lot since the last I saw it a week or so ago. He'll contribute more at least then stereotypical power hitter.

I disagree with the centerpiece of a franchise however(granted you said you wanted more tools so it's understandable), it's no coincidence that when he was the NL player of the month of May that the Marlins had the best record in May.

Outside of Stanton and his more polished game right now i'd take Trout. Has the speed of an Emilio Bonifacio, the possible power to seemingly hit 30 HRs, gold glove, etc.

I voted Stanton because he has established himself as a player who could be the key component of a franchise for years to come. While Moore, Harper, and Trout have still yet to play a few seasons. I would take veteran stars than rookie stars because they have proved themselves to live up to high expectations.

A lot of love for Stanton here. I like that. The more I see Trout, the more I really like him. I think I have to give Stanton some attention next week in a post or so. Good stuff here.
