guess that means we'll finally be able to see if Joe mauer was worth taking over mark prior.

You have to consider that the Twins only drafted Mauer #1 because they knew they couldn't sign Prior. If they would have drafted Prior, they'd be much worse off financially than they are already.

    Thats exactly why.

Joe Mauer and Jose Reyes in the big leagues... the best 20 year old prospects in the game.

I'm not a Twins fan, but Mauer is gonna be RIDICULOUS. He'll be hitting .300 in a couple years. He'll be a Gold Glove catcher.

Prior would have been great, but he would have cost way too much. Plus Mauer is a Minneapolis product (Cretin-Durham Hall).

It's not that Prior would have cost too much, but either he or his agent said that he wouldn't sign with Minnesota.

You're right about Mauer, he was the popular pick.

Well, this was MUCH BETTER than going to Florida St.

Even though they would have been amazing with him instead of Rix.

How is he doing behind the plate defensively?

I heard he might play 1B?

My two favourite teams are the Twins and the Expos. They have been the parent clubs of the now defunct Edmonton Trappers triple A club who will disband after next season. Yah I know its a tough life, Vlad is as good as gone, the Spos have been so close only to not make the dance. While the Twins have looked pretty sharp the last few years and are certainly moving in the right direction. But this trade is almost a step backwards, theyr losing a good player.
