Chance Miggy wins AL MVP over Trout?

Miggy has 2nd best BA (trout has first)

Miggy has 27 HR (trout has around 18 i believe)

Miggy has 91 RBI (First in AL, trout has 58)

    Miggy has worse OPS, .966 < 1.004 (2nd, 3rd, ortiz has first)

Trout has better wins above replacement.

Now i am very aware trout hasn't been playing the whole season or else trout would most likely be closer or in front of cabrera in HR and closer in RBI but, since the Angels have a chance to miss the playoffs (and are most likely competing for wild card, unless Texas falls off hard) and detroit is competing for the division with CSW (1.5 gb of 1st).

If Detroit wins their division and LA wins wild card, does miggy get AL MVP?

I could probably roll this into many different scenarios, if they both snatch the AL wild cards, who wins MVP but, i want to hear what others think.

I believe right now trout sort of has an edge, hes been playing outstanding and he has a lot of hype behind him with the amazing outfield plays he's made and without him the Angels'd probably be out of the playoffs race but i guess you could play that both ways if miggy wasn't on Detroit.

And yes i am a detroit fan, i didn't think the race was really close til i saw a few people today on ESPN boards try comparing them, then i looked at their stats and their team standings and began to think it was closer then i originally thought.

Depends what division you're in, Yankees' regular season was over a while ago.

I think you missed my original point then.

Can someone tell my why Tiger/Cabrera fans are so concerned about him winning a meaningless individual award? Particularly in the first week of August?

I think I speak for most Tigers fans in saying, we aren't. Just because 3 or 4 clowns on OS come out and start flipping out in August because he isn't the runaway favorite, doesn't mean we all think it. In fact, I'd rather Trout win the MVP and Miggy get another ring.

This is how I feel, but the opposite.

To be honest, I don't really care much for post season awards as voted on by the baseball writers. They seem pretty meaningless to me.

Let's see how the rest of the season plays out. I would give the slight edge to Trout because of his five tool ability, but Cabby is certainly right there as well. In the end the Tigers winning the division and going deep into the playoffs is the primary concern, Cabby winning the MVP would be a nice little bonus for him.

                      We don't need this thread.

In a little bit, we'll have a season-ending awards discussion thread.
