Here's a food for thought. Even if we do sign Sheff, plus these statements, other teams will think we ain't pursuing him, so the bidding war will be between lesser teams. And I believe the money will be less, than if we're included in the bidding. So once a team made a strong bid that seems to be the winningest, we come into the mix and place our's. What I heard is, the Yankees don't want to lock up another huge long term contract. If Vlad would be willing to sign a 1 year deal, and then test free agency again next year, they would go after him.
