Cole Hamels is the third Phillies pitchers in the last 20 years to throw back to back shutouts. He joins Cory Lidle (2, 2004) and Cliff Lee (3, 2011).

I feel a tough luck loss coming on for Vogelsong.

Well...not a tough luck loss, just a loss.

I guess Zimmerman thinks the Giants could come back.

I wonder which position player will pitch tonight?!!!! *crosses fingers*

Well I think it's fair to say Carlos Villanueva has pitched well enough to be a major contender for a starting spot in the rotation next year

I"m really impressed by Moises Sierra the guy has the profile of a power hitter though the power stroke hasn't come yet despite him hitting one out tonight. He's a guy that you can't really play to pull as he uses the whole field and is actually more of an opposite field hitter.

David Cooper has been hitting a pretty good bat as well too. Depending on what the Jays do next season I could see him at DH/1B or as a bench player with a good bat to bring into the game.

If the season ended today, the Angels, Tigers, and Red Sox would miss the playoffs. That would of been inconceivable back in March.

Up here in Boston, the Red Sox missing the playoffs this year isn't exactly 'inconceivable'.

                      Damnt!

On my way home from the game.

                      Hell of a performance regardless.

Carlos Pena just literally "threw away" the Rays' winning streak.

Not the only guy to "throw away" a game last night. Henderson Alvarez was quite good but in his one bad inning he threw the ball wildly to 1st which allowed Chicago to score the winning run.

The Jays had a few opportunities to win the game but because of the lack of punch right now they couldn't get it through. The best opportunity was when Encarnacion hit a hot shot towards 3rd and Youkilis caught it and doubled up the runner at 2nd.

In other Jays news, AA finally got his man as Yorvit Torealba has been signed to help out but I don't think he'll be around next season. AA hinted that Travis D'Arnaud may be with the big club next season splitting time at Catcher/DH. My feeling is that it's going to be a battle between D'arnaud and Lind for the DH spot next spring and Lind may potentially see his Blue Jay career come to an end.

Josh Johnson starting to turn it around, another good performance. 8.0IP 3H 1ER 1BB 7Ks last night.

C Rob Brantly also went 0-3 in his MLB debut last night.
