Re: Warren Spahn dies
One of the truly greats. If people thought that the 2001 D'Backs were too heavily reliant on Schilling and Johnson then let me quote a saying that was often said when Spahn and Johny Sain were the aces on the Boston Braves of the late '40s.
"Spahn and Sain and pray for rain"
I wish I had a chance to see Warren Spahn pitch from everything I heard he was a great pitcher who had amazing command of his pitches and was one of the gentlemen of the game.

Re: Warren Spahn dies
Along with Bob Feller, he was the most approachable player up in Cooperstown at the induction I went to ('02). Not only a great ball player, but like so many of his era he was also a great American. Like the article says, who knows how many games he would have won if he didn't take time out to serve his country.Comment
