    LEE TO THE CUBS

Derrek Lee traded to the Cubs for Hee Seop Choi and a player to be named later.

I think this is a great move if the PTBNL is not a top prospect. The trade for Lee now allows the Cubs to re-sign Simon as the lefty to back him up.

This wasn't unexpected and i'm a bit surprised at how little the Cubs had to give away for Lee. BTW most Players To Be Named Later are quite minor.

                      How little?

You do realize that Choi is the type of player that (if given a decent chance) could hit like 30 homers a year, right? Choi is downright awesome. I'm not saying he's going to be that good right off the back, keep dreaming, but if he's given a starting spot in the lineup, you will see some production and some defense. I like this trade, and I actually think it strengthens both teams. the Marlins got the steal here IMHO. They get a young first basemen with a chance at being really awesome AND a minor leaguer for Derek Lee. On the other hand the Cubs get Derek Lee, which could seriously help them with their first basemen problems.

This is a steal for the Cubs. Choi reminds me so much of Travis Lee. A guy packed with so much potential that will most likely become a huge disappointment. If he's going to hit 30 homeruns a year then why were the Cubs so willing to get rid of him plus a PTBNL for Lee?

Lee becomes an even better hitter hitting behind Sammy Sosa.
