Also, if he starts to get banged up again he can do a little DH'ing every now and then.

The Orioles do need pitching, and that is something they hope to address, right now they have four starters in the rotation (Rodrigo Lopez,Jason Johnson, kurt Ainsworth and Damion Moss), Sidney Ponson may be returning to Baltimore, there are also rumors about John Burkett and Ismael Valdes.

                        <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

More than likely, take Jason Johnson and Damion Moss out of that equation, add the possibility of: Erik Bedard, Matt Riley, Denny Bautista (most scouts have him ni the majors by the end of the year).

The O's have already said they are not going out to buy a #1 arm. They will go out and get a #3-#5 guy in their rotation, or possibly Ponson (Beattie was seen Friday night talking to Ponson's agent at length), but they are going with the guys they have now for the top of the rotation and letting them blossom. They have plenty of young arms that could develop, so saying they are completely in chaos in their staff is ludacris.

                        As for free agent updates:

-O's are the top candidate for Javy Lopez as of Friday. They are, supposedly, the only team willing to offer him 3 years on a contract. Contract is shaping up to be 3 years, bout $18-$20 million.

-The O's are one of the top candidates, still, for Guerrero. 6 years, $80 million is the latest rumor, although money could be higher by the time of the deal.

-The Orioles are still looking at Tejada, but all signs point to the M's getting him. If Tejada doesn't come to Baltimore, look for them to seriously pursue Rich Aurilla.

-The O's may come out of the weekend with Rafael Palmeiro. Raffy has been courted by the Angels, as well.

Outside of that and a small Urbina running around, looks like oru focus is Guerrero and Lopez, and possibly a SP. Shouldn't be too bad of a year for the AL East as a whole is some of these moves happen.
