As long as they don't have to give up too much, it'd be a great move for the Cubs. If they acquire Haren and he pitches well, they can flip him for a top prospect at the deadline.

He'd be perfect for the Cubs. Perfect candidate to flip at the deadline.

One of the rumors I read was Marmol for Haren.

Looks like the Dodgers have signed Mark McGwire as hitting coach.

Surprised Marmol was the only player the Angels received in return, but then again, Haren is coming off a mediocre season along with back issues.

Good call, and a solid trade. Marmol has been way too inconsistent for what he's being paid, and the Cubs have some young arms they can attempt to groom for the closers' role.

DOB at the AJC was saying he thinks they should let him walk and offer Angel Pagan a 5/55 deal before the market is set. Pagan is younger, a switch hitter, and has the same career OPS while playing above average defense. I'd prefer Bourn, but Pagan would be infinitely better than running Schaefer out there.
I don't know if I want to tie up money into the Pagan Angel, Angel Pagan.

But yeah, he'd be better than Schafer.

Heh I always get a kick out of that name.

I think the Angels backed out when they came to their senses about Marmol.

I was surprised that the Angels were willing to deal Haren after trading Santana yesterday. If they traded both Santana and Haren, and couldn't sign Greinke, their rotation would suddenly become a huge weakness.
