Hairiston was a potential all-star before the injury. He finally laid off the high pitches/long ball attempts and used his speed to get on the bases and wreak havoc on them. I'd much rather have Hairiston.

I completely agree. He did a great job before his ankle/leg injury. But I've just never been a fan of his since he came up and was touted as the next great home grown player. I just like Roberts better b/c he's a switch hitter with what i percieve to be a bit more power and speed.

I really wanted him to end up in Seattle.

            Great move by the O's.

My reaction when I heard about this:

NOOOOO STUPID ANGELOS WHY WHY WHY!!!!

then I rationalized it all by saying: "this'll backfire like everything Angelos has done." and

Just in case anyone was wondering hwo much money had to do with the decision (it ws obviously a factor), take a look at the last line of this story:

                        Tejada speaks

A shortstop's dream is to play on the same field as Cal. Welcome to greatness, Miggy.

I agree. Roberts was a slightly better player last year. However, you would have to think that Hairston has the better upside; that he should eventually develop into a better player than Roberts.

But you guys are right...one of those dudes would make good trade bait; granted that their value isn't great, but they should be valuable enough to bring a reliable pitcher over.
