            Re: The Rule 5 Draft

I saw that the Rule V players have to remain on your roster or DL all year, or be offered back to their original team for 25,000. How are players left available to this draft? I really know nothing about all the drafts like this the MLB has, can anyone here explain how it works? Thanks.

EDIT: I found this on ESPN.com that says how players are listed as available:

Players are eligible for the draft if they are not on a team's 40-man roster and have been in professional baseball for three seasons -- four if they signed before turning 18.

Honestly, he's one of the few upper-level minor leaguers for the Indians I never heard much of. All I know is someone (I think Baltimore) took him from us last year, then we jumped on the opportunity to get him back mid-season. All I can really tell you is he has decent to good speed and is probably an average fielder. I'm pretty sure he would have been in Buffalo (Indians' AAA club), so he could help sometime in the near future if needed. However, I think he'll only be a career backup at best.
