    Stubhub

Major League Baseball Advanced Media and StubHub.com announced a new five-year deal Monday that continues the website's role as the official secondary ticket market for the sport while eliminating the cheap listings that had become an eyesore for some clu

MLB reaches a new 5 year deal with Stubhub, but the Yankees, Angels, and maybe Cubs opted out.

The quotes from the Yankees I've read are a total joke. They blame stubhub for the fact that no one wants to pay their crazy prices for tickets. They seem to think that getting rid of options for cheaper tickets is going to increase attendance. Yea, good luck with that.

Every time I checked Stubhub, the tickets were more expensive than what the Cardinals were selling them for.

The key with Stub Hub is to check the day of the game, even hours before the game. What a lot of people do is buy season tickets and put them on there for more than they paid. Usually they sell them, but they don't want to take a total loss on a game so they will mark them down to sale them if they haven't gone right before the game.

When I was in San Diego I would sometimes grab season tickets in the 'Diamond Club' or whatever they called it right behind home plate for $30/piece and those tickets go for $200 or more.

Same experience for me with the Rangers!

Thanks for the advice, I will look a bit closer next time. I just looked for the section I could afford on the Rangers site and ended up being no different on stubhub when I was hunting for my tickets.

This is the exact opposite of the Yankees problem and why they opted out of the deal.

They are going to setup (or contract out) a new system for season ticket holders to "officially" re-sell their tix, except now there will be a minimum ticket price they will enforce.

I've sold a few tickets and bought a few on Stubhub, and the money they make off of resale is amazing. Stubhub would be one of my last options if I had to use it.

I prefer Ebay to Stubhub when it comes to same-day or day-before purchases.

I went to Tiger games this year for .75 cents on Stubhub. In April, all games are a dollar. I had a whole bunch of great seats all year, right behind the bullpen, 2nd row in RF, nice seats down the line, all for less than 10 dollars

                      as predicted,

The Great Yankee Ticket Kerfuffle - WSJ.com
                      http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...487820134.html

A group organized by the Fan Freedom Project, including several city council members, held a small rally at City Hall Tuesday to decry a Yankee plan which they say will include price floors on resold tickets. When season ticket holders try to resell their tickets via the Yankees' new site, they will be told they can't sell them for less than a certain price, Fan Freedom president Jon Potter said. This amounts to the Yankees trying to protect their unsold, high-price inventory, Potter said.
StubHub is fighting back. one way is odd - that "Fan Freedom Project" is actually backed and funded by them. not sure what they hope to accomplish here other than some questionable PR.

but the other way is just plain smart - you won't be able to buy tickets from stubhub last minute and just print them out anymore. so they are buying/setting up a booth near the stadium for ticket drop off/pick up. problem solved.

Stubhub is hit or miss for me. Sometimes I find really good deals and other times I've seen ridiculous ticket prices. Last year I saw a Chicago Blackhawks regular season ticket for $30,000 lol.
