Good to finally have a FO that knows how to structure contracts.

      Great deal for the Cubs.

I'm loving seeing these guys sign these long contracts, relatively young to stick with their team. This obviously doesn't compare to the Braun, Tulo, or Longo deals but I still like the trend. Felix I guess you could say as well.

So, not MLB related... but baseball related.

That's Bryan Bullington (former first overall pick in 2002, Pirates) throwing at a batter who had called (and was granted) a timeout. He didn't hit him.

The best part of it? There's a video on YouTube of the at-bat, from someone sitting on the third baseline. It's just of the batter. Literally nothing happened after that. The ump, batter and game went on like he hadn't just gotten thrown at after calling a timeout. He struck out.

That's the way baseball used to be played. A similar thing happened last night when Brett Lawrie called for time against the Giants and Chad Gaudin and intentionally threw at him. Not too much was made of it but Gregg Zaun said that it was definitely intentional based on the situation and such.

              Re: MLB Off-Topic 2013

Just saw a highlight on YouTube of the Twins '91 World Series, reminded me of the story I've heard probably a thousand times growing up.

My mom is a huge Twins fan. I was 2 months old when the Twins won it in '91. My dad had gone to sleep (He's a Twins fan now, but couldn't care less back then), so my mom was watching all alone in our basement. She was so excited when we won, but didn't want to wake my dad who had to get up early for work in the morning, so she came upstairs to my room, woke me up, told me the Twins won the World Series, and brought me downstairs to watch the celebration

I agree with Bullington's decision there. I mean, he starts his windup and then the batter calls time and is granted it. Screw that, you don't do that. Knock you down, and learn not to do that again.

I've never understood the Mike Trout "I Play for October" commercial, when he says "I play for the 6th tool."....shouldn't he have 5 first?

I used to do this a lot as a pitcher. Anytime you can hit a batter for free, you gotta take advantage!

I have a hard time even figuring out what his weakest tool is (arm, maybe?) much less which one doesn't qualify as a plus.

still though, one of the best all-around players in baseball obviously

I would say that Trout doesn't have a plus arm. It's decent, but not plus. But me being a Rangers fan doesn't have anything to do with thinking Trout is lacking a 5th tool. I actually think he's the most talented position player in the division, and it's not even close.
