Did anyone watch "The Next Knuckler" on MLB Network tonight? I thought it was pretty good, but the fact that they tried to put so much drama in it is hard to take seriously.
Kevin Millar is funny, but also annoying at times.
So Jack Morris is going to be a radio, online, and part-time studio analyst for the Jays this year. Feels a bit odd, never thought his heart was much with the club, but I guess a job is a job.

Yeah, I'm not exactly looking forward to his color commentary on the radio but if Mike Wilner is still hosting Blue Jays Central at noon this season we could get some crazy arguments as they come from very opposite extremes.

Rangers beat writer Evan Grant's thoughts on an Elvis Andrus extension.
I've already accepted the fact that Elvis won't be a Ranger much longer. It's easier to accept that when you have guys like Jurickson Profar and Luis Sardinas waiting behind him, though.
To be fair, you did quote Evan Grant who has as much baseball knowledge as the squash seeds I just planted.

Yeah, EG has never been known for his intelligence. He's also been very biased (loving everything Michael Young, hating CJ Wilson and Ian Kinsler), but I feel that he's accurate in what Elvis will get when he hits FA. He's going to be expensive, and depending on the development of Profar/Sardinas, I don't know if the Rangers will be willing to pay $130-$160 million over 7-9 years.
I really hate the negativity of the Philadelphia sports media, it's becoming unbearable in all sports. Some of the things that they say make be believe that the Phillies are going to be the worst team in the NL.

A blast from the past video. 1998, Vin Scully interviewing Mike Piazza about his ultimatum that he gave to the Dodgers about extending his contract now or he's gone.
Reporting is so different now. This is just so civilized compared to if this situation happened today.

I don't care about the he said/she said drama from 15 years ago, but I do think the Piazza thing is a perfect case study for baseball contracts. Here you have a 28 year old catcher coming off a historic year (.362, 40, 124) and he wants a 7-year, $100+ million deal. If you look at his career, he put up FOUR more productive years before age/injuries caught up with him.
Why the heck a MLB GM would give an older star a 7-10 year contract (Pujols, Hamilton, etc) is beyond me. I'd bring all this data into the negotiations...the problem is, some idiot will always give it to them.

I've started to work out at a local fitness place trying to cut some weight. Today was my cardio day, so I was pushing it hard toward the end when a guy came up beside me and did a quick warm-up and left. I cooled down and got off and started to make my way for the door when I see the guy stretching to play in the racquetball court. He looked so damn familiar with a long, drawn face. It finally clicked that it was Tom Grieve. When it clicked, he looked up at me and gave me the biggest "I know who I am, go to hell" look in the world and I went on my way.
But yeah, I was working out with Mr. Rangers Tom Grieve.
