Angels Pitcher tests positive fo Steroids

Angels Pitcher Derrick Turnbow tested positive for steroids when he failed a drug test during a U.S. Olympic training camp in october, Turnbow told the L.A. Times that he took an over the counter dietery suppliment and said "i didn't know that what i was taking was going to make me fail a drug test, period",
Turnbow has been suspended from international competition for two years and faces no sanctions from Major League Baseball,
this is the second time Turnbow has tested positive for steroids in his career, he also tested positive in 1993.

this season Major League Baseball will start penalizing players who test positive for steroids,
in november MLB announced that 5-7 percent of the players tested, tested positive for steroids, the number of players are enough to fill two Major League rosters.
so here we have it, the first of what may be many players who test positive for steroids,
what we have to wonder is how many of the 5-7 percent of the players are big name stars, and not nobodys like turnbow.

I was thinking of posting this but come on this guy is a no name scrub. This will barely make a dent in the media. Now when the first star or at least well known player is caught THEN it'll be worth talking about.

But yeah it's too bad he's gotten away with it (at least in the majors)

I wouldn't have expected a pitcher to be taking steroids. That just seems stupid. A pitcher doesn't need bulk, all it does is get in the way of arm movement. And as dangerous as pitching is to the arm I can't imagine what it must be like if your using steroids. That just seems like a surgery waiting to happen.

I wouldn't have expected a pitcher to be taking steroids. That just seems stupid. A pitcher doesn't need bulk, all it does is get in the way of arm movement. And as dangerous as pitching is to the arm I can't imagine what it must be like if your using steroids. That just seems like a surgery waiting to happen.

That's what I was thinking. A pitcher needs to be limber and IMO taking steroids would only decrease that. Granted steroids would help his leg strenght and thus his drive off the rubber, but it seems like it would end up doing more damage to ligaments in his arm...
