Nance is right. On the one hand Gonzalez gives the Royals a big bat but he brings huge headaches with him. I just hope he doesn't turn out to be a flop there as i'm predicting KC to win the Central.

They don't want him for his personality, they want him to crush the ball.

the change in atmospheres might do him good though. The ranger clubhouse is in such dissaray and was last year that everyone had a bad mood.

Obviously team chemistry has something to do with how GM's and field managers build their ball clubs... I mean look what "Mr. Personality" Manny Ramirez has gotten this off-season... he's one of the games best run producers but yet was put on waivers and when that didn't work the Sox tried to trade him... the thing with Gonzalez and the Royals is this - is his possible 30+ homers more important to K.C. than having team unity?

I agree with what Snivlem said about change of atmosphere, the Rangers as a team were miserable to watch let alone be on, but now he's on a team that has a real chance to contend, in a city that loves the team and baseball in general, Tony Pena is a good manager, he'll be able to handle Juan,
plus, it's not like he has to be the star of the team, the Royals already have two of the games best in Carlos Beltran and Mike Sweeney,
in his last healthy season he put up MVP type numbers, if he is healthy this season, the middle of the Royals batting order will be scary.

exactly. I think jaun was put off by the management and the manager. I don't think they got any closer because of the language barrier either. Not that Jaun can't speak english but he was one of the few spanish players left on texas' roster last year and they have a manager/owner/&gm that are all stiff white guys who probably only speak one or two words in spanish.

So playing in the outfield with another spanish speaking guy will probably help. That is, as long as Jaun doesn't dog it and fake injury.
