If I'm Vlad this is the deal I take.

Let me expand on the last post and say that this would be the best deal for Vlad to take. He would essentially be doing what Pudge Rodriguez did last year (tho sadly he didn't get much hype in the FA market) and he would be able to show that he's healthy and worth the multi-year megabucks contract. Miami is also the perfect city for Vlad's temperment as he doesn't have to be the poster boy for the media. Knowing the "fans" in Miami that stadium will be half empty most of the time.

Vlad will sign with the O's, they are offering the most gauranteed money. Look Pudge did this last year accepted a 1 year contract and it hasn't worked our for him, he still can't get singed, Vlad would be stupid to leave all that money on the table.

Unfortunately, I'd have to say you're dead wrong on all counts.

                  1. Money isn't Everything
                  2. He values Dominican fans, of which Baltimore has pretty much none
                  3. He would be the Star in Baltimore, no doubt. He doesn't want to be the ultimate center of attention.

If Money was everything to Vlad, he would have already taken the Oriole's offer. These are the kind of "holes" that are found in these deals. I don't imagine he expects he can drive the price much higher at this point, and if he or his agent thinks he can, he/his agent is a tad bit foolish. The best place that Vladi fits in with is the Mets. He won't be the Center of attention, there are alot of Dominican fans, he's getting offered a decent ammount of money.

Enough about Vlad, lets take a look at your attitude towards Pudge. You misunderstand every MLB team's position on the guy. They'd LOVE to have him, but who has an extra 15 mil to spend on just a CATCHER?! Catcher's are not as important as Pitching and a good infield. Most teams have a Decent catcher already, they have no actual NEED for a guy like Pudge. It doesn't matter what the guy does, he could walk on water and he'd still be a Catcher. Catchers are not in high demand, ever. I personally hope the guy does the smart thing, and takes a deal with a team that offers multi-year, because otherwise he'll be playing the waiting game every single offseason. Everybody knows what he's capable of, the Calibur player he is, they just don't have an extra $15 mil to splurge on a CATCHER.

Vlad wouldn't be stupid to leave that money on the table, he'd be wise. Why join a team that has nothing you really want from it JUST FOR THE MONEY? I seriously doubt he'll end up in Baltimore, but anything that keeps your ridiculous dreams alive!

It didnt work out for Pudge because he had an average year and a great post season....why would anyone pay a catcher10 million to hit less than .300 less than 20 homers and not drive in 100.
