The Mets are the dumbest team in all of sports

Wow talk about a poorly run team. They botched up by not signing the best infielder in baseball 3 years ago, so now they botch up by not signing the best outfielder. Fred Wilpon should be shot. What time of team can win by refusing to offer more then 3 year contracts. Now who plays right field? Roger Cedeno? Timo Perez? Maybe they'll make a great trade and get somebody like Bubba Trammell or Jay Payton? Wow, what a team. I HATE METS MANAGEMENT!

Who ever said Vlad wants to play in New York?
Besides, the Mets don't want to break the bank for this guy. I'd be more worried about pitching.
Piazza, Floyd, Reyes, Cameron, Matsui, Phillips, and Wigginton doesn't sound too bad.
They'll have one of, if not the best defensive center fielder's in baseball plus a sweet middle infield.

The Mets always succeed in meaningless things like that...best centerfielder with Mike Cameron, fastest middle infield with Reyes and Matsui....best defensive infield with Olerud, Fonzie, Ordonez and Ventura...things that don't produce wins. The Mets have been a pathetic team since they lost to the Yanks in the World Series, and this was there chance to redeem themselves and become contenders again. They're in the biggest market in America and now are refusing to go over 80 million in salary, because Wilpon is a cheap a**hole. They paid 120 last year for crap, and they couldn't add 14 more to get the best outfielder in baseball? A guy who not only would be tremendous in Shea, but would fill the void in right field. The Mets pitching is decent, they needed Vlad and once again, the Mets fail.

You didn't answer my question. What makes you think Vlad will go to New York?
You make it sound like all they have to do is make an offer.

                      Whatever.

It's a well-known fact that the more the Mets spend the worse they do. It's the one charming thing about them. As a fan of the team you must have noticed this trend.

While he's undoubtedly one of the best outfielders the league has to provide, he's certainly not the best outfielder, well it's debatable.
For next year, expect Cedeno to be your RF. The thought of it is hilarious. This guy is not a major league outfielder. He botched routine plays on in the OF last year on more than one occasion.
Anyways, the Mets have been burned in the past by signing "star" players to long term contracts, so I guess they have learned their lesson; being cautious with all the questions surrounding Vlad, which is understandable. They did after all give him the highest paid contract than the others have offered, it just was filled with incentive clauses that accommodate the Mets' interests. Though, to get this caliber of player for only 70+ mill. is such a big bargain. On the bright side, you will have a great defense up the middle, and the whole season filled with spectacular plays from Cameron, Reyes, and Kaz.
" I look at him and it's getting to the point where it's just scaring me. He looks younger but he doesn't carry himself in a younger manner. He's impressive, and I'm glad we drafted him. "
                            - Lavar Arrington on his new Redskins teammate Sean Taylor.
