None of this really matters, because the Phillies are going to run away with the division next year.

If the Mets want to improve, they have to get better pitching all around. I think that the starting 8 that they put out in the field is good enough to win, but without a solid starting staff and a decent bullpen (Do they still have David Weathers as their go to 8th inning guy?), they aren't going anywhere. Braden Looper as your closer? Give me a break.

If Vlad really wanted to play in NY he would have. But he went for the most guarenteed money. The Mets Deal could have paid him the same amount, with incentives only for at-bats not performance. He knows his back is messed up. His agents know his back is messed up. I hear the mets never even got a call so that they could counter offer. If he really wanted to play in NY, the mets may have had one last shot to up the ante. Am I dissappointed, a little. But when you throw 70 mil. at someone, they should be able to play 140 games per year. Vlad's back is always going to be an issue.

would one rather have a vlad or a combo of timo perez & the clueless roger cedeno .. no question who i'd gone for.. ps.. if they were scared of his back, who was the brilliant one who traded for vaughn even after he sat out the prior season due to his knees??

i'm a big mets fan.........it hurt when they did not get vlad and they prob could have if they dished out the cash but life goes on!! watch the mets will sign jay payton back!!
