Right now it looks like Maddux may end up a Marlin.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Where are you getting this? The Sun-Times reported yesterday that he wants to go to Chicago.

    In fact, from Sportsline.com today:

"The Miami Herald reported Marlins GM Larry Beinfest said the team had no intentions at present of signing a high-profile player to supplement the roster -- despite reports everyone from Vladimir Guerrero to Greg Maddux might be ripe for the picking. The Herald also said free-agent outfielder Raul Mondesi told a Puerto Rican newspaper he was close to a deal with the Marlins, but a league source said there was no truth to that statement. Earlier, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, citing industry sources, reported the Marlins were examining a number of options from Guerrero to Maddux to Jason Kendall."

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

The reports are, if Maddux does not get a multi year contract from another team, then, the Marlins may make him an offer.

The questec system really messes up finesse guys like Glavine and Maddux, because the ump's don't want to give them the border line strikes

I heard about this what exactly is it? Also isn't it supposed to be for every stadium in the Majors? I don't really have any opinion on this rumour except to say the Mets sure have a misguided belief that old pitchers will save them from their woes.

Questec is a computer program that records each pitch and analyzes the performance of umpires. I believe it's only installed in about 12 stadiums now, but the plan is for it to be in all eventually. Pitchers hate it, and so do umpires. The umps feel forced to alter "their" strike zones when calling a game in a stadium that has Questec. And you may remember Curt Schilling took a bat to one of the machines last year.

Today I read that now that they lost out on Guerrero, the Orioles may go after Maddux. I doubt he wants to pitch in the AL though.
