It was definitely George Brett, but I don't think it was '86.
I want to say that in '81 he hit .390ish.
Unless were counting the strike season then it was Gwynn for sure.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Your right man, Brett was starting to get old around there, I'm not good with remembering numbers, but I do beileve it was Brett, I know he had a monster season.Comment

It was George Brett, who hit .390 in 1980.
Tony Gwinn was hitting .394 in 1994, but that got ruined. Also ruined by that strike? Matt Williams (and maybe Griffey Jr.) had a chance at 61 home runs...Comment

I gotta call foul on this one!
While 1994 was not a complete season, Gwynn's AVG in the books is .394.
There's no telling what it would have been without the strike, but as far as history is concerned, in 1994 he had .394... The highest since Teddy.Comment

Ty Cobb was notorious for hitting .400, but what teamate of his also achieved this feat.
Edit: Wait, did I get this one, Technically I think 13 was closer, he had the 390ish part right. and was only one year off, I was 6 years off, and 3 points off. Only thing I have going for me in this argument is I answered first LOLLast edited by DamnYanks2; 03-22-2013, 10:08 AM.Comment
