Re: Clemens agrees to pitch in 2004

    Clemens will tank.
If all goes as planned, one of baseball's biggest jerks will try to pitch inside too often and take one hard and high himself. I don't want him to get hurt or anything, but ever since that bs stunt he pulled in the subway series i have wanted to see him in the NL. I hope Piazza clocks him. Check that, I hope KWood beans the hell out of him.
IN any event, he will stop pitching inside and will be yanked out of minute maid faster than enron.

I am interested to see Clemens hit, but moreso, shouldn't we all fear the sight of David Wells chugging around the bases? I fear for his health.

The come back to the Yankees part was the biased Yankee fan in me talking.

Don't talk all year about how your retiring, make everyone think they could be watching your last game, and then come back anyway. Just keep your mouth shut all year or stick by your word.

Re: Clemens agrees to pitch in 2004

Something interesting Clemens said tonight when he was on SportsCenter was that he said he will continue to pitch inside and it is the batters job to get out of the way of the pitch when he tries to brush them off. But remember in the Subway Series when Piazzas' bat broke and it flew back and Clemens caught it and threw it back at him and he acted like a big jerk about it. Isn't it the pitchers job as well to get out of the way of the bat if it comes flying back at him when the bat breaks? Doesn't that seem sort of hypocritical of Clemens to say that?

What did I just read? Clemens will never stop pitching inside, no pitchers will. They all do it, Clemens has just been more brash about it and has no problems with throwing the knockdown pitch. Show me a pitcher who doesn't pitch inside and I'll show you one bad pitcher. Even Greg Maddux comes inside with his room temperature fastball, its part of the game.
