What Happened To Ben Grieve?

I don't know why I started thinking about this today but what happened to him? He put together some solid seasons when he was younger and then fell of a cliff. Anyone have an idea why?

He came up in the late 90s, therefore steroids.

That and he was shipped off to that other team in Tampa before the Rays were there.

Grieve was kind of like his father. All he needed was a team that had no other options. Unfortunately that didn't work out real well for him.

Personally, I don't think he was a steroid guy...I think he wasn't that great to begin with (solid rookie year). His K/BB ratio was never good, he was a poor defender, and then when his bat speed slowed down he was done.

He had a very weak arm. I remember him on the A's.

I remember he had a solid rookie year, was hyped up beyond belief back then too.
He had 3 okay-ish years, never progressed I'd say after his rookie year though.
Once he left Oakland though his career died in Tampa.

I remember going to his MLB debut. I remember him having a great game, so I looked it up.

Yup, it was all downhill from there: 3-4, 5 RBI, 3 2B, 2 R, BB
