I heard the trade will save the Padres like 3.5 million. Maybe enough to get someone.

The addition of Cirillo would enable the Pirates to move recent free agent acquisition Chris Stynes to second base. Freddy Sanchez and Bobby Hill, two prospects acquired in trades last season who were expected to compete for the second base job during Spring Training, would likely start the season at Triple-A Nashville

          <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

I sure hope not. I want to see one of them, preferable Sanchez as the starting second basemen, not Stynes a free agent who was just signed to hold down a spot.

WHO CALLED IT. Just when I thought I was bad at making calls,

                WHO
                CALLED
                IT

I believe if you look back to the Jeff Cirillo trade to the Pads, I called on it that they would trade him. But no, everyone thought he would be a bench third basemen. FINALLY I WAS RIGHT! WHY TAKE ON 6.5 MIL FOR A BENCH THIRD BASEMEN?! especially when trying to save money! I mean, come on, you HAD to know they were gonna trade him. GOOD MOVE, PADS, GOOD MOVE! THANK YOU!!

I'm very excited about the Padres this year. Their team looks alot better then it has in recent years. And their easily going to be back in the mix of things in the West. I just wish Maddux could of been signed to complement their staff a little better. But Wells seems to be a good pickup.

the Padres have been quietly (how is that even possible these days) building themselves quite a team for the last year or so...this would be yet another great move for them i think
