    Re: 3/31 - 4/7 Game Discussion Thread

I was waiting for this day to finally play "The Show Live" on MLB The Show, so can't wait to try it out later today.

Home openers to start the year I sorta like but sorta don't. I like it cause it means first action of year is at home. Don't like it cause it's basically both special days to start the year, on same day(So season opener on the road then next series or two is home opener, gives it that complete opening week feel with 2 special days to look forward to)

Too bad that the Cubs will be a 90 loss team.

Marlins top prospect SP Jose Fernandez will make his debut on Sunday, which is unexpected. He dominated last year but that was in A+ and only a bit of ST did he pitch.

So atleast I have that and Stanton bombs to look forward to

I'll be shocked if Stanton doesn't walk 150 times. I'll take my chances with Brantly or Polanco.

No, but I expect he'll be up in June. Which is why I'm shocked Fernandez is starting in the majors, figured they'd wait till June or at least next season service time wise

I think this first series is extremely important for Houston to show that they can at least compete. The team mainly has triple A talent. But they will get better through time.

this might be a good reason of why they are doing it:

Not too surprising if you think of it from the Marlins odd perspective (in that they have 0% intention of keeping any player that is good enough to earn a lot of $$). Florida doesn’t view assets like other teams, they aren’t worried about starting his arbitration clock, in fact, getting it started sooner might make him more valuable in trade. For a team with Florida’s priorities (make money, don’t spend money, win if you get lucky), this has multiple benefits. 1) It might create a little buzz and sell tickets for games the kid starts. 2) If he does as well as projected, by the time he’s 24 he’ll be ripe trade bait, what team wouldn’t be interested in an established 24 yr old starter? Great target for an extension without even going into his 30s.

Too bad the SNB opener is a dog of a ballgame, still, real baseball is better than spring training.
