The Astros are the best team in baseball and are on pace to go 162-0. Let that sink in for a moment.

Bit of an overpay, IMO. Andrus is a solid player, but not one who should be making $129 million over eight seasons.

I am a Yankees fan and I wouldn't say declining, I would say ageing, If we were declining then we would not have been 4 games away from a world series last year, it's like everyone that's saying the patriots are declining when all they do is go 13 wins every year and miss out on the super bowl

This year is going to be a terrible start with all the injuries. might be on the decline we will see. but it won't be because of declining it will be because of injuries

as for todays game well.. enjoy it while it lasts Astros fans/ weren't the Astros at one stage last year at 500?? like they were 24/24 I can see that happening again then they will lose like 90 out of their next 100 games

You do know most aging players who are declining tend to have injuries they can't shake off right? It kinda goes hand in hand. The Yankees NEED to get young and soon but they don't really got much in the farm system and the usual high end young stars are getting locked up on long term deals so they can't exactly buy guys who are in the midst of their prime.

If the Yankees are to avoid a dark decade long period of mediocrity they're going to have to stockpile the minor league system and commit themselves to building with homegrown talent.

                    LETS GO CUBBIES!!

Barney out. Stewart out. Second half our lineup looks brutal. Hopefully Schierholtz has a decent year this year.

On the topic of age and farm systems...

Yankees = oldest team in the league. Number 2? the Blue Jays.

Yankees have a middle of the pack farm system (10 according to Keith Law, 14 on minorleaguebaseball.com). Blue Jays have a bottom of the barrel farm system (22 according to milb, 24 according to Keith Law). This is with ManBan and Jose Campos getting hurt last year and hurting our ranking. A lot of fanbases can make fun of the Yankees for being old and having a bad farm system, the Blue Jays aren't one of them.

Just wanted to stop in to say how happy I am for opening day to finally be here. Feeling optimistic despite the majority of "experts" picking my Red Sox to finish 4th or 5th in the AL East.

I'll leave the arguing to Jays and Yankees fans. Go Sox!

I like discussing age when most of the young teams were at home, during the Postseason. Keep calling the Yankees old, cool, pretty sure your young team hasn't done anything for you, lately.

AL East is going to be a great division to watch.

Thank God he isn't going to stay with us for the whole year. Drew will hopefully take over so we won't have a SS batting .170. Man, I can't wait for Xander...
