Panda makes a spectacular tumbling catch into the LF crowd, but may have hurt himself in the process.

        Looks like he's staying in.

Giants win 3-2, and Clevenger, the last strikeout victim, goes down in a heap after the last swing.

Well whe I hear a player swear in a public statement like the asinine comment Konerko made, I will.

So wait...you aren't upset at the guys involved in the fiasco, but you are taking Konerko to task for having an opinion on it? Okay.

I don't think many 1st graders care or even know about konerko, hell my son is in kindergarten and could not name a single baseball player. Its not Konerko's job to be a role model, its the parents job to be that. If a parent doesn't like something he said then correctly tell your kid how you feel it should be or how you want your kid to be in the situation when he's hit w/ a baseball.

All of this role model crap becomes grinding and annoying....

Absolutely! I think it's ridiculous and insane. Grown men acting like spoiled brats.

And when you're son is watching the local baseball game and they post the comment from a local player that is emulated by local kids, it sets a bad example of how an adult is supposed to act and contradicts the teachings of the responsible father.
I tell him it's not ok and another adult he sees play his favorite game says it is ok.

I guess I shouldn't expect most people to understand that, but i do have the right to be upset about it and have lost all respect for Konerko for promoting and condo ing violence in the game.

Look, I understand where you're coming from...I just don't happen to agree. I have 4 children of my own and Paul Konerko doesn't shape their view of right or wrong.

I think Konerko has a fair point...a pitcher can throw at a hitter and break his hand and no one cares, but if a hitter charges the mound and the pitcher gets hurt all heck breaks lose. It's a double standard. I don't think guys should be charging the mound, but I understand why they do. We have people trying to say it isn't/shouldn't be a part of the game, but we've been playing baseball for well over 100 years and this stuff has ALWAYS been in the game.

Home runs in the top of the 4th by Hunter, Fielder, and Peralta have the Tigers up 5-1 on the A's with Verlander on the mound. I'm feeling pretty good about winning today.

That's when it's your job to step in and correct him according to what you believe to be right. There are going to be a lot of people in your son's life that tell him things that contradict the way you teach and raise him. It's part of being a parent. You have the right to feel however about Konerko, but I just don't see how his statement was so horrible. He wasn't telling kids to go out and break someone's collarbone if they're hit with a pitch like you insinuated in your initial post on the topic.

Unless I'm missing someone, Kawasaki will be the first Japanese hitter in Blue Jays history!I believe Jays one of few teams left in MLB to not yet have a batter from Japan on their team.

Read his quote. He basically said that if you get hit, charging the mound and exacting revenge by inflicting harm in the form of a broken collarbone is "a part of the game".
