leave it to the Mets..... AGAIN...

not that this was a major impact player, but if you have a player - notably a decent pitcher who did well as a Met, that wants to come back... & you turn your back on him-- ugh.. Rick Reed wanted to come back, but apparently the GM didn't talk to his agent on a face to face basis.. his agent called duquette "unprofessional" in dealing w/ him.. how much more misery can the front office bring to the met fan??

    Strike 1 --- a-Rod
    Strike 2 --- Vlad
    Strike 3 --- Rick Reed
Strike 4 --- going after Scott Erickson..

But not getting Rick Reed is not a very big lose

i dont think they ever had a shot at Vlad....he didnt want to play in NY he had said that the whole time. so i still dont think you can count that, but Rick Reed is a mistake i think, I was hoping the Marlins would get him because hes a quality middle of the rotation pitcher.

funny - his agent said that "it will refect in the Mets win-loss record this year".. granted as i have said it wasn't a big deal & that Reed had a bad year last year.. but other than that, he game teams innings, allowed few walks, & kept the team in the ballgame. & yes, vlad may not have wanted to come, but to give a HALF HEARTED attempt was a waste & a joke.. but getting Vaughn was SOOOOOOO much better... - & now they want to go after Erickson??? HAHA - they were worried about Guerrero's back, uhh.. what will the Mets doctors say about Erickson's arm.. or will his medical report end up like the JFK files??

Not only Vlad but how do you figure the Mets should have A-Rod? Do you propose the Mets are stupid for not offering ARod a larger contract than the one Tom Hicks offered, because that's what it would have taken to get him.

i am not saying that they would have gotten him cheap - but all the garbage that was said - A-Rod wanted his own jet, seats, etc, was crock - it was just a way to pull wool over fan's eyes.. A-Rod i believe wanted to come to the Mets but the Mets did not want him (besides, they had Rey... Rey.. oh i cant remember that .210 batter's name).. then they go out, trade Appier (who did a respectable job as a starter for Vaughn - well we know how that turned out. They got scared off by medical reports but yet are taking a look at a pitcher who was out all of last year with, suprise, suprise, AN INJURY..
